Of course, this is maybe not that strange considering the fact that it is a built-in tool that can be used effortlessly as it is integrated into the app.

There are several reasons that Instagram introduced the analytics feature into the app.

First off, Instagram makes its money from businesses. It is financed by ads, and the ads are paid by businesses and brands promoting their products on the platforms. As such, the Insights feature was an attempt to make the app more friendly towards businesses and make the job of marketers and other people working with social media marketing easier, and most importantly, make it easier to measure and evaluate results.

Also, if you look at the different features that Instagram has introduced over the years, it’s obvious that Instagram wants its users to stay on their app. This is, of course, nothing strange. This is something you can get information about both inside third-party apps and inside Instagram’s own analytics. If your goal is to grow your followers on Instagram, then obviously this is a metric you want to keep an eye on.

While Instagram isn’t known to be the number one platform for driving traffic, with the right approach and methods, it is very well possible to gain substantial traffic from Instagram. Both inside your profile analytics and inside Stories, you can see how much traffic you’ve generated.

Total reach

Reach is a very relevant metric for marketers. Obviously, you want to know the total number of people you’ve reached, and with Insights, you can see bot how many people you reached with individual posts, as well as with your profile.

Engagement

Instagram is a social media platform, and this means that the way you best drive success is by engaging and interacting with your audience.
