Defining success in social media might be hard. Should you count how many followers you have, how much your sales has increased or just try to measure your brand awareness?
Well, to answer the question “How Do You Define Success in Social Media?”, there are many ways to define success on social media and how people defines it differs from person to person. However, there are some general rules on how people measure social media success.
1. Success is achieved if you can leverage your social network to get results and get what you ask/want of them. For example, If you have a new product, can asking your network to rate, promote or comment on it give you results or insights that you find beneficial? Can you ask them to buy a new product and get sales? There are lots of ways to use a large social network, success is being able to get desired results out of them. 2. There is also SEO benefit to social media. If you Tweet a link, does it raise in rankings? Can you drive traffic to a page, or get a lot of interaction on social media sites? Having that kind of leverage can be useful to you when/if you interact with other people/websites. Social media influence is a form of internet currency, so if you can “buy” what you need with it, you might be able to say you are successful.
3. Some may even say they have reached social media success once their objective is done. Social media success might just rely on your own goals.
4. As social media is the large community of people, a success is defined when a group of people judge the profile of your company as a useful resource and trust you for what you suggest them. This only happens when you use Social Media in a friendly manner but not as a platform for doing advertisements or announcements.
